IDEAL HOME – SMALL HOLDING/ HOUSE WITH A BIT OF LAND / STABLES
This may be the most honest add we can write about a dog as what can we say, Brian is in a league of his own.
He is a 2 year old Australian collie mix who arrived in our care a number of months ago as a “lockdown dog” that was “free to a good home” on gumtree and given zero training, socialising and manners and boy has he been a job to rehabilitate. Brian spent his young life shut in a kitchen so has had to learn quite a lot since being with us.
Brian has come on leaps and bounds with us but still requires an experienced owner. He is the most loving dog you can ask for with people, he really likes a fuss, cuddle and to play fetch and tug of war. He must be the only dog or with a very old non reactive medium to large dog as he doesn’t like small dogs (he is ok with medium dogs with introductions). He is not a lover of long walks at all and would much rather have a bit of land to potter around on – he has Queen Anne legs (bandy at the front but no health implications) so isn’t highly active and gets tired fast if over walked (although he has happy to play all day long).
Due to the fact that Brian will guard his property he is more suited to a home that can let him run around on enclosed land/ large garden etc.  He would make someone a great little companion animal, a friend for another farm/stable dog or just as fine as the only dog who can guard the perimeter.
Now this ad may seem like a very strange one but Brian is an incredibly strange dog in his own loving way, we need to make sure he doesn’t bounce back if he goes to the wrong home. He gives his handlers/owners so much affection and really is all for his “family” and no one else….he will cuddle you all day long and give you his whole heart.
Brian is house trained, crate trained, particularly loves submissive female dogs and playful. He is also healthy, neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
We are really worried Brian won’t find his forever home – we would consider non farm/land homes too as long as adopters understand he doesn’t want to go for walks and just wants a nice open space to run around on all day . We will consider non farm homes if you are experienced and happy to correct him when he’s guarding. He isn’t a huge boy and is around 20kg tops and long and short and really has come SO far with us…..we really hope there is someone out there for Brian! Children of teenage age only for Brian.
Please get in touch if you think he may be the boy for you and you can have a telephone chat with his trainer who is currently boarding him. Brian comes with support form his trainer for life free of charge.
