Fern

Interested in adopting?

Fern arrived with us in February 2023 as a terrified, nervous puppy—broken by the world and unsure if humans could ever be kind.

Today, she has blossomed into a confident, joyful little dog. The transformation has been nothing short of incredible. Fern now uses her wheelchair with ease and is slowly learning to trust strangers, even though she still approaches the world cautiously.

But Fern’s story isn’t an easy one. She is now sadly end of life at only 3 years old.

Recently, she was diagnosed with a number of serious conditions that make her unsuitable for adoption and place her in a category of long-term care.

Fern has double elbow dysplasia, and she is not a candidate for implants. She also has a shattered carpus that causes her some discomfort . This is heartbreaking because Fern’s pain and misalignment were caused by someone paralysing her when she was only four weeks old. Her bones never developed properly, and now her joints will always struggle to support her.

Despite everything, Fern remains incredibly bright, loving, and full of life. She is living a full, happy life right now—and we intend to keep that promise to her. We will do everything we can to ensure she remains comfortable and joyful for as long as possible.

But her care comes at a huge cost to the rescue.

Fern’s ongoing needs include:

  • 2x weekly hydrotherapy sessions (available to sponsor through our website)

  • Fortnightly physiotherapy sessions (£65 each)

  • Stem cell therapy £3500
  • Daily home laser therapy

  • Surgery to keep her comfortable (£15,000 – to hopefully be done end of this year)

  • Regular x-rays

  • Ongoing pain management

Fern deserves the world. She deserves a life free from pain and full of love.

By sponsoring Fern—even a small amount each month—you will help ease the financial burden and ensure she continues to receive the care she needs to stay happy and comfortable.

Please consider sponsoring this incredible little soul. Your support will help keep Fern smiling.
