Ace is a gorgeous 5 year old Shepherd Mix, love bug with the most infectious smile!
Despite everything he has been through recently, Ace seems to have a permanent smile on his face. Sadly, his dad has passed away, and his mum is no longer well enough to give Ace the walks and exercise he needs. Losing his main person has been a huge change for him, and although this decision has been incredibly difficult, the kindest thing is to find Ace a new home where he can have the happy, active life he deserves.
At just 5 years old, Ace absolutely loves his walks, so we would really love to find him an active home where he can enjoy plenty of adventures.
Ace has gained a little extra weight due to not getting enough exercise recently, but other than that he is a healthy boy. He is:
❤️ Neutered
❤️ Vaccinated
❤️ Microchipped
❤️ Comes with 5 weeks’ free pet insurance
❤️ Good with other dogs out on walks
❤️ Happy to live as the only dog or with the right canine companion
❤️ Walks well on and off the lead (unless he sees a squirrel)
❤️ Gentle when taking treats
❤️ Is fantastic in the car
❤️ Good with visitors in the home
❤️ Is clean in the house and can be left
❤️ A lovely, affectionate all rounder with a heart of gold
Ace has also had scale and polish, so those beautiful pearly whites can keep flashing that famous smile!
Cats, however, aren’t Ace’s thing, so he would need a cat free home.
Ace has never lived with a dog before but is 10/10 with them on walks and has had doggie pals that he has had play dates with. He particularly likes well rounded, calm, female dogs and will actively engage in play with them. He gets nervous around dominant males and although is good with them on walks, we would rather he wasn’t homed with one as we can see his body language is a little more submissive and unsure around them.
Ace can get very excited when meeting people and may jump up a little, so we’d prefer any children in his new home to be 12+, simply because he could accidentally knock younger children over in his enthusiasm.
Ace is a long coated boy, so his new family will need to be happy to keep on top of regular brushing and grooming to keep his beautiful coat in tip top condition.
Honestly, you really do need to meet this boy to appreciate just how special he is. He is gentle, loving, full of personality and has the most wonderful smile and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have Ace by their side.
All Ace needs now is someone willing to mend his broken heart, give him a fresh start and help him get back to enjoying the walks and adventures he loves so much.

Just hours into his new home Ace gave a tiny lip curl to the teenage son when he was sat on the sofa next to his new owner – now we have to be honest here as it could have just been the stress and newness of moving to a new home or he may just need a tiny bit of training in this area (it has never happened before in his entire 5 years of life). He didn’t growl, lunge or bite he just gave a short lip curl. This could be so easily remedied and likely needed a bit more time but unfortunately this was enough to get Ace sent straight back to rescue.

If you have owned a shepherd before (Ace is a shepherd mix), you will know this is such a minor issue and so easily solved.
If you think you could be Ace’s person, please get in touch via the website to arrange a meet.
