If you’re thinking about adopting one of our animals, then firstly I’d like to say thank you! These dogs and cats are in such desperate need of a loving home and we cannot give them their happy ever after without people like you who want to make them part of their family.
- Get in touch
Firstly, you need to get in touch and let us know you would like to be considered for an adoption and the easiest way to do this is to complete our online form.
- Discuss details
Once submitted, one of our team will be in touch with you to discuss the adoption in more detail and your suitability to take on the animal you are interested in. Please note, these are often street dogs and setting boundaries and strict rules is imperative – full guidance will be provided by our dog behaviourists.
Remember, this process is vitally important for both sides as we need to ensure you are a match for the requirements of the animal in question to ensure that when they come home you are both able to settle into a happy new life together.
- Home check
If, following this conversation, we think you can provide what is required and you are still happy to go ahead, you will need to have a home check. This is when a registered home checker will make a visit to your house to ensure it is safe for the dog or cat.
- Adoption fees
Adoption fees do apply, however these vary depending on the situation of the animal in question. This will be discussed with you during the above conversation. The fees include a lifetime passport, 12 months of vaccinations, 3 months of worming, flea treatment, microchip, neutering and travel to the UK (where applicable). Your fee will also cover 5 weeks of free pet insurance, 5 weeks access to a 24 hour vet line and 24 hour access to a telephone behaviourist to help you get your new pet settled in.
- Join support group
You will also be invited to join our support group, which is full of our adopters who share stories, experiences, photos and arrange local dog meet ups.
- Access to support
Each adopter gets assigned an experienced one to one follow up support member, free of charge, who is there 24/7 for any advice adopters may need for the entirety of the animal’s life, so you are never alone and always have access to support if you ever need it.
- Requirements from you
In return, we do ask that adopters take some time off work/ensure they are at home for a period of time whilst settling in their new arrival. Pet insurance must be arranged for when the initial free 5 week period is up.
If you have any questions or queries regarding our adoptions process, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Of course, adopting a pet isn’t for everyone and if you feel you’re not in a suitable position to do so at this time, then there are many other ways you can still help these animals find their forever home.
