Update following the recent announcement to suspend animal imports

Due to the current war in Ukraine, there has been an increase in the movement of animals that are non-compliant with UK health and documentation requirements into neighbouring countries.

The UK Government has therefore announced that there will be a temporary ban on all commercial cat, dog and ferret imports from Belarus, Poland, Romania or Ukraine; this includes rescue animals. The ban is currently in place until 9th July.

The decision affects all UK charities that import animals from these countries and therefore we won’t be able to bring in any further animals from our Romanian shelter until the ban has been lifted.

However, please be reassured that Flori’s Friends will continue as normal with its essential work in rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats from within the UK. All UK animals available for adoption can be found on our adoption page.

Please also note that all of our imported animals have, and always will, meet the strict health and documentation criteria as set out by the UK Government before they enter the UK, and therefore we will restart our work to import animals from Romania as soon as we are allowed to do so.
