Ethel and Beatrice

In October, we welcomed two beautiful Persians named Ethel and Beatrice. Both came from a back yard breeder who was keeping them in unimaginable conditions; covered in thousands of fleas, eating and toileting from the same area and generally near on dead. They were discarded by the breeder due to them falling sick and no longer being able to produce kittens for her to sell.

Since October, Flori’s Friends Rescue has spent over £2000 in medical investigation for these two girls. We are now a step closer to getting these girls the help they need. Both girls have been diagnosed with FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis), a viral disease that affects cats and is usually fatal. They are now on an intense course of medication at £350 a bottle. Sadly, this isn’t the only issue. Beatrice has a number of concerning new lumps over her body. On November 28th she will be undergoing multiple biopsies on these lumps to determine what is going on. By the time this newsletter reaches you we should have hopefully announced some further results on our social media.

On the brighter side, since starting their FIP medication, both cats have greatly improved in their general health. Both have gained over 900grams and are brighter, move active and generally happy cats. We really hope both cats are saveable and can live a long and happy life with us. Both cats are typical Persians, and will only eat freshly cooked meat, and they like their dinners in bed!

Donate to their medical care or help us pay for their vast amount of fresh chicken these girls eat! Or if you wish to go a step further you can sponsor their care with us.
