Ethel and Beatrice

Interested in adopting?

In October 2024, we welcomed two beautiful Persian girls into our care: Ethel and Beatrice.

They came from a backyard breeder who kept them in unimaginable conditions. Their tiny bodies were covered in thousands of fleas. They were forced to eat, sleep, and toilet in the same filthy space. By the time they reached us, they were barely alive.

Once they became sick and could no longer produce kittens to be sold, they were simply discarded.

Since October, Flori’s Friends Rescue has spent over £8,000 trying to save these two girls. At first, we were told the most devastating news—that they were dying of cancer. But we refused to give up. After further investigations and over £5,000 spent at the Royal Veterinary Hospital, we finally uncovered the truth.

Ethel and Beatrice were suffering from severe, chronic inflammatory bowel disease that had progressed to the point of attacking their immune systems. On top of that, they were battling horrific internal bacterial infections caused by the filthy conditions they had been forced to endure for years.

Today, everything looks different.

Both girls are now in recovery, and for the first time, their future is filled with hope. We know now that they are not dying. They will live out their precious lives safely with us as permanent residents of the rescue, where they will never be exploited, neglected, or thrown away again.

Their health must be monitored very closely, which is why they were never put up for adoption. They require prescription diets and intermittent steroid treatment to keep them stable and comfortable. Their care is ongoing—and costly—but they are worth every single penny.

By sponsoring Ethel and Beatrice, you help us provide their specialist food, medications, and continued medical care. Most importantly, you help ensure that these two little souls spend the rest of their lives knowing only kindness.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read their story.

With love,
Team Flori x 🤍
