Maki & Enso – Kent

Meet Maki (girl) & Enso (boy),

Our absolutely stunning, miniature panthers. They are truly breathtakingly beautiful in real life.

They were one of the more sadder abuse cases to come into the rescue this year. Both of these lovely kittens, along with their brother were left in a public toilet in a container with no food or water on a 30 degree summers day. They were left to die alone, frightened and hungry with absolutely no hope. It was by sheer luck a member of the public came across them (we have no idea how long they had been sitting there scared to death) and handed them into rescue. All of them were dehydrated, crawling in fleas and in an absolute state of complete terror. This was one of the most depressing cat cases the rescue dealt with this year. The team watched these shut down cats shake with fear for a VERY long time. No eye contact could be made for weeks and getting close enough to pet them was impossible. It was absolutely heart breaking and the entire team was so worried about these cats futures.

A few weeks passed and one of the brothers came round very nicely and found himself a lovely home but Maki and Enso continued to tremble with fear. The rescue cattery was not at all the right place for these guys and we were at a loss as to how to progress with them. Thankfully, one of our wonderful volunteers who had been spending time with them offered them a home foster environment where they could receive more 1-2-1 care and attention. This has done absolute wonders for them and they have made regular, small steps in the right direction. They now play like any normal kitten and can be petted by their fosters and have even started purring. Everything is still baby steps but the fosters are really seeing such wonderful kittens slowly shining through, making progress each and every day. We truly believe they will keep making progress and become just wonderful cats.

A little about Maki and Enso from their fosters  – ” Both Maki and Enso can be stroked now, all be-it very gently. Enso in particular enjoys being petted and now gives the occasional purr which is just incredible to watch given how very sad he was when he came to us. He will also seek you out for attention now and again which is huge progress. Maki is the shyer of the two and won’t (yet) come seek out affection like Enso does, although is showing small signs of doing so. Both cats will come and sit close to you and stare at you with their big inviting eyes like they want to be petted, so the want for love is definitely there now. They get on brilliantly with our two adult cats and have only ever shown love and playfulness towards them. They have come on leaps and bounds since moving in with us and we think in the right home they will come along even further and grow to be very sweet natured cats. They have been a joy to have around and watching them slowly learns to trust again is just magical”.

We feel it is important to add that these guys have grown far quicker in confidence since be friending the resident cats in their foster home, in particular one named Nisha. A beautiful mother/kitten bond has blossomed and the kittens since this have become far more interested in being stroked and have begun purring lots.  The three nuzzle tighter regularly and really enjoy each other company. This would be such a perfect opportunity for anyone with a friend cat looking to add two friends in for them to enjoy.

The rescue is looking for an experienced home with these two sweethearts. It is so important that anyone taking these guys on has had experience with nervous cats before and understands that they need everything to be taken slowly. They are highly traumatised animals that need plenty of time to learn to build more trust with humans again after being so badly let down. They don’t scratch or bite but do get very stressed when moved so adopters will need to be very understanding of this when they take them home. We have absolutely no doubts whatsoever that these guys will continue to do well in the right home, they just need that special someone to give them the chance they deserved. We are aware that two frightened, black cats are going to be difficult to place but we truly believe there is someone out there for every single animal in need and we are hoping that person is reading this advert.

Maki and Enso can most certainly live with other cats and would really enjoy a home in a multi-cat home but would also be fine on their own in the right home. No dogs or children for these two as they really need a nice quiet environment to continue on in their journey. They are around 18-20 weeks old and are healthy little munchkins. They will require cat flap access once they have settled right down into a home, we would also accept large catios for these two.

If you are that special someone these guys need in their lives please fill out a contact form and we can arrange a meet and greet. Time, love and patience is all these guys need.
